We are less than two weeksaway from the elections, and your support for my campaign is greatly appreciated.
On November 8, 2011, Roswell voters will have an opportunity to cast their votes for three Roswell City Council seats plus ESPLOST and Sunday Alcohol Sales.
Roswell City Council
Three of the six Council seats are up for reelection in November. Current incumbents are Richard Dippolito (Post 1), Becky Wynn (Post 2), and Betty Price (Post 3). Two debates are scheduled in October. The first is The North Fulton and Friends Tea Party on October 17th at Doubletree Hotel that will include all candidates from Alpharetta, Johns Creek, and Roswell. The Roswell Women's Club will host a debate on October 19th at Roswell City Hall focusing specifically on Roswell City Council candidates.
ESPLOST
If approved, the Education Special Local Sales Tax (ESPLOST) $913 million referendum renewal will continue for another five years at the same rate it has been since 1997. The county has said that the money from the tax will be used to build/renovate schools, buy school busses, etc.
Fulton County Schools maintains that the special tax helps keep property taxes down, since the system would have to issue bonds for capital improvements without it. If the SPLOST is not given an approval vote in November, it will expire June 30, 2012. For a complete list of projects, go to www.fultonschools.org/SPLOST4 and click on "Projects by Cluster".
Sunday Alcohol Sales
Voters of nearly 97 cities and counties throughout Georgia are set to hold Sunday sales referendums during the November 8 general election. These areas represent approximately 2.5 million Georgians living in all parts of the state. In April, Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal signed Bill 10 into law that gives the decision on whether or not to allow Sunday retail alcohol sales to individual cities and counties. Roswell City Council voted in July to give our citizens an opportunity to cast their vote on the issue of Sunday alcohol sales.
Voter Information
Early voting begins on October 17 through November 4, 2011. Residents can go to the Secretary of State's website www.sos.ga.gov/mvp to get additional information on polling places, early voting, and absentee ballots.
This is your opportunity to be heard - I would appreciate your vote on November 8th.
Sincerely,
Becky Wynn
